Interdisciplinary - Integrated Resources Program Manager

The park preserve extensive cultural resources, including cultural landscapes, large museum and archival collections, historic structures, archeological resources, which are fundamental to the purpose of the parks and also extensive natural resources, which are the subject of broad ecological restoration efforts. The purpose of this position is to act as an Integrated Resource Program Manager responsible for professional preservation, restoration, and conservation, Section 106 and NEPA compliance, planning, and resource-related public outreach and partnerships. All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-11/29/2019-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect either full-time or 40 hours per week. If a part-time work schedule is reflected, the hours must be annotated to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Basic Education Requirement:
Each job series has a basic education requirement. You must meet at least one of the following basic education requirements. Historian, GS-0170. 1. Possess a 4-year degree in history; or related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history OR 2. Possess a combination of education and experience with courses equivalent to a major in history, or a major in a related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Cultural Anthropologist, GS-0190. 1. Possess a 4-year degree in anthropology or cultural anthropology (an appropriate field). OR 2. Possess a combination of education and experience with courses equivalent to a major, or a combination of courses totaling at least 24 semester hours in anthropology (or cultural anthropology), or related course work, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Archeologist, GS-0193. 1. Possess a 4-year degree in Archeology that included 3 semester hours each in the following course areas:
History of archeology; Archeology of a major geographical area such as North America or Africa; Regional archeology; archeological cultures, or sites in a specific part or portion of a major geographical area to acquire or develop a foundation for regional specialization for professional development; Theory and methods of archeology which include, but are not limited to, typology, classification, sampling, cultural evolution, diffusion, dating, and analytical techniques; Archeological field school, to provide a basic understanding of theoretical and practical approaches to research design implementation, field preservation techniques, and report preparation by participation in actual field work; AND six semester hours of related course work in:
geography, geology, or cultural geography; history, historiography, or historical archeology; environmental studies; scientific writing (nonfiction English composition); and/or surveying; AND archeological field school. OR 2. Possess a combination of college-level education, experience or training that provided knowledge equivalent to that described above, plus appropriate technical experience or additional education. Creditable experience in this field is considered to be four years of archeological work experience that demonstrated a thorough knowledge of the fundamental principles and theories of professional archeology. The work experience must have included archeology field experience, which may include that gained in an archeological field school. Field experience should have included a combination of professional experience in archeological survey, excavation, laboratory analysis, and preparation of written materials. Applicants with such field experience should, after additional experience under the direction of a higher grade archeologist, be able to demonstrate the ability to be a crew chief, directing the work of others at a single location as a part of a larger archeological project. OR 3. Have Four years of archeological work experience that demonstrated a thorough knowledge of the fundamental principles and theories of professional archeology. The work experience must have included archeology field experience, which may include that gained in an archeological field school. Field experience should have included a combination of professional experience in archeological survey, excavation, laboratory analysis, and preparation of written materials. Applicants with such field experience should, after additional experience under the direction of a higher grade archeologist, be able to demonstrate the ability to be a crew chief, directing the work of others at a single location as a part of a larger archeological project Biologist, GS-0401. 1. Possess a 4-year degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR 2. Completed courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Museum Curator, GS-1015. 1. Possess a 4-year degree in museum work; or in an applicable subject-matter field. OR 2. Have a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. OR Have four years of experience that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study as shown above. Physical Scientist, GS-1301. 1. Possess a 4-year degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. OR 2. Possess a combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. - AND - To qualify for this position at the GS-12 grade level, you must also possess the following qualifications by close of the announcement:
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Examples of qualifying specialized experience includes but is not limited to:
Providing natural or cultural resource program support and professional advice in at least one of the disciplines or occupational series listed above; participating as a professional member of a research team; providing technical assistance and serving as a subject matter expert in conducting research studies; planning or participation in the planning of natural or cultural resource projects or studies; researching, developing, and preparing manuscripts for professional publications; and/or performing collections management, registration, cataloging, research, preservation, restoration, and conservation of collections.
