This position is a Java applications development position, however familiarity with business intelligence tools and data warehouse architecture will be beneficial.
The BI Java Developer will report to the BI Architect and will be responsible for building Java extensions to the core functionality of the Pentaho open source BI platform. Extensions will initially be focused on custom security access functionality, analytic features, and GUI interface customizations.
Work with the BI Architect and BI product manager to define customization requirements, assess feasibility of customizations, estimating and supporting prioritization of work
Create and present solution alternatives as required
Create requirements, design, test and deployment documents as required
Become an in-house expert on the Pentaho Java/Java Script customization options and learn to develop within the recommended Pentaho extension parameters
Develop Java/Java Script code extensions to support high-data volume, large user base application environments
Create Ant scripts to migrate java code between environments

years demonstrated development experience with J2EE, JSP, JavaScript, and HTML, CSS and SQL
Experience writing Java code to be executed as an extension to an enterprise application software package
Prior experience developing enterprise applications for use in high-volume, large use base environments.
Experience operating in a rapid development type environment is desired
Experience building web / n-tier J2EE applications
Knowledge of the Eclipse and Spring frameworks
Prior working experience with Tomcat, JBOSS and Apache
Prior working experience building and managing Ant Scripts
Knowledge and experience developing in a Linux environment is required.
Experience in collaborative teams using version control systems such as SVN
Strong attention to detail, good communications skills, and a positive attitude.
Ability to be self motivated and deliver projects on time with minimal supervision.
Prior development experience in a data warehouse environment (i.e. java customizations reporting, or ETL development) is desired, but not required
e-Commerce experience is desired, but not required
Prior experience with Netezza, Pentaho, Talend is preferred, but not required
Knowledge of portal technologies (e.g. Life-ray) and integration with single sign-on (e.g. LDAP, Crowd) is desired
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
