Head of IP Litigation, US

The Opportunity

Reporting to the head of IP and as a member of the enterprise global IP leadership team you will lead CSL's US IP litigation function with the objective of protecting CSL's innovation across our product portfolio.
As an important partner to the US business, CSL's Head US IP Litigation will design and implement IP litigation strategies in collaboration with other team members.

The Role
  • Supervise and support a functional team that manages a docket of US patent litigation, arbitration, adversarial patent office proceedings, and IP related contract disputes.

  • Conceive and implement US IP litigation strategies in collaboration with other team members.

  • Directly manage certain US IP disputes.

  • Negotiate settlements and license agreements.

  • Advise US business partners regarding IP strategy and litigation risk.

  • Embed functional team into US business to ensure clear communications and agreement on business objectives.

  • Design and implement US patent exclusivity and life cycle management strategies.

  • Build US IP litigation functional team that works together on challenging problems and provides mutual support.

  • Support professional development of functional US IP litigation team members, including through mentoring, coaching, continuing legal education, and sharing of best practices.

  • Ensure US IP litigation team takes consistent approaches towards handling cases.

  • Manage governance and reporting of US IP litigation.

  • Manage US IP litigation budget.

  • Monetize IP assets via licensing and, if necessary, patent enforcement.

  • Collaborate across departments with multiple partners.

Your skills and experience
  • Juris Doctor (JD) required

  • Must be admitted to a state bar or the District of Columbia bar.

  • At least 15
    years US IP litigation experience with focus on biologics IP litigation (brand on brand or biosimilar).
    ANDA litigation, vaccines IP litigation, and ex-US IP litigation experience helpful.

  • At least 10
    years experience litigating and resolving IP related contract disputes

  • At least 10
    years experience monetizing IP assets.

  • Experience leading team of in-house US IP litigators.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
